AG Teleconsultants offers telephone systems from
both Samsung Telecommunications and Eon Communications (formerly Cortelco Systems).
Together we are able to offer you features at price points to meet your company's specific
needs in doing business. It is important to determine those needs to make the
best possible choice. Needs can be
broken down into two categories, size
and features.
Size
is determined by the total number of outside lines (trunks) and inside telephones
(stations) that you require. Each of these connect to a system port. Keep in
mind that optional devices and features such as voice mail and paging will use system
ports. You should also determine the total number of system ports required in the
foreseeable future. Different systems will configure economically at one size but be
limited in growth. Making a proper determination of your needs now will save
thousands of dollars in the future. |

Features
work hand in hand with size. You can imagine that larger systems will inherently
offer more features as a general rule. However, today's digital systems are able to
offer many features even in the smaller sized systems. Major areas of features would
include the following:
- Multiple companies using one system
(Tenant Service)
- Telemarketing or Call Center Application
(Automatic Call Distribution "ACD")
- Multiple locations sharing one voice mail
system (Centralized Voice Mail)
- Detatched offices utilizing one system
(Remote Expansion Shelves)
- Specialized Trunk Applications
- Ground Start Trunk

PBX & Advanced Feature Systems

Smaller systems are typically refered to as "Key" systems.
Features and trunks are accessed via keys or buttons on the stations. Larger systems are referred to as PBX (Private
Branch Exchange) systems. A PBX would typically have so many trunks that it would
not be practical to have a key for each trunk. So, dial codes are used, eg.,
"9" or "81" to dial out.
Today's key systems offer greater
flexibility in features because they are digital. As a result the Key/PBX definition
has become blurred and a new term "Hybrid" has emerged. Hybrid refers to a
key system which offers PBX features.
Unless your requirements are small and
very basic determining your needs will require some discussion with one of our trained
experts. Information on various systems is provided here to give you an
introduction to the classes of systems offered. Feel free to call us to discuss your
